The residential workshop is a yearly international group, both theoretical and experiential. It addresses psychopathology from the field theory perspective and it is led by the three directors together. From theoretical stimuli, dialogue and experiential work, we explore the growing edges of our understanding of human suffering and growth, in order to support the development of a Field Based Clinical Practice.
In the morning we work all together stimulated by inputs from the trainers, in the afternoon we work in three subgroups. Each group is led by a trainer and is focused on supervision of therapeutic processes and discussion of clinical cases.
The schedule offers the possibility to slow down and pause, to enjoy personal meetings with colleagues from all over the world, to explore the silence and the nature, to appreciate the beauty of the Italian landscapes and cuisine.
The first and the second edition (May 2022 and 2023) has strongly encouraged us to propose this third edition: the depth of personal involvement, the feeling of belonging to an international community and the incredibly richness of clinical experiences have nourished all of us and foster our growth.
Addressed to: Gestalt Therapist and psychotherapists from other modalities, psychologists and psychiatrists, with clinical experience and basic training in psychopathology.

Time schedule:
Friday 24th starting from 19.00: welcoming (finger food and drinks). This is an informal meeting before the official start of the program on Saturday morning.
From Saturday 25th till Thursday May 30th: 9:30 – 13:00 and 15:00 – 19:00
Friday May 31st: 9:30 – 12:30
Location: Pieve Tesino (Trento, Italy), a small village in the mountains, in the Trentino region. The seminar will take place at the Alpine Study Centre (CSALP) of the University of Tuscia. https://www.unitus.it/en/dipartimento/csalp
Fee: 1650 euros (+VAT 22%) including tuition, 7 nights in a double room (single room can be required with an extra cost), all meals (breakfast, lunch and dinner, drinks are not included) and dinner and music in a farmstead on Thursday evening (May 30th). The fee should be paid as follows:
- 250 euros (+VAT 22%) as registration fee (non-refundable);
- 1400 euros (+VAT 22%) within February 28th 2024.
Payments can be done via bank transfer or via PayPal.
Accommodation: sober but comfortable double rooms in the CSALP hostel or in another hostel near the University. From Tradition to Growing Edges
The School offers an approach to psychopathology from a phenomenological and Gestalt therapy perspective. It represents an original and unique combination of the European tradition of phenomenological psychopathology and of contemporary Gestalt Therapy theory applied to clinical practice. Psychopathology is explored from the roots of these traditions and developed towards the edges of a radical relational perspective.
Field Theory and Process of Change
We consider psychopathology as a field phenomenon emerging in the session and aiming towards transformation in the process of therapy. Clinical sufferings and symptoms are expressions of different ways of being absent in the situation. Therapy, consequently, is the art of presence and supports the forces acting in the field and moving towards transformation.
New Directions in Clinical Practice and Social Commitment
This understanding deeply impacts the therapeutic work and opens up new ways of meeting the client and of approaching clinical situations, emerging feelings and the therapist’s interventions. Since individual suffering is indissolubly entangled with the wider field, the social dimension becomes the necessary ground to understanding the clinical phenomena and, conversely, therapy becomes the crucible to foster the social change.
PROGRAM 2021/2022
The TSP’s training programs are in process of being revised and this proposal is the starting point of a new structure that aims to be respectful of the increasing awareness of social and ecological changes. We feel the need to travel less, to slow down and to be more rooted in nature. We also need time to meet, to study and to assimilate.
So, we are opening a new phase: the School is organized into online seminars and a yearly residential program in Italy.
ONLINE SEMINARS
The online seminars are lectures, followed by discussion in small groups and then by a Q&A (Questions and Answers) session. They critically address the topics from the historical, nosographic and diagnostic perspectives. The phenomenological and Gestalt understanding of every specific suffering is explored. Field theory is the theoretical basis that allows an embedding of the individual suffering into both a biographical and a socio-cultural background. The seminars on the advanced program are led by two trainers in order to enrich the presentation from different perspectives.

BASIC PROGRAM (ONLINE):
FOUNDATIONS AND FORMS OF PSYCHOPATHOLOGY
The basic program explores the fundamentals of psychopathology and the specific clinical sufferings.
The trainees will learn the foundations of phenomenological-Gestalt psychopathology and the main forms of psychopathological sufferings. Each of these will be explored from different perspectives: history, diagnosis, relational roots and field perspective, guidelines for therapy.

ADVANCED PROGRAM (ONLINE):
INTERSECTIONS OF SUFFERINGS, PERSONALITY DIMENSIONS AND CLINICAL COMPLEXITY
The advanced program explores the intersections of the main personality dimensions with specific clinical sufferings (for example the hysterical dimension and psychosomatics, depression, panic disorder, etc.) and some special clinical situations. When meeting the client, indeed, we find a very complex and unique combination of personality styles, symptoms, ways of being and suffering. It is important not only to know the forms of sufferings but also the ways these forms appear in different situations and personalities.
Each seminar is led by two trainers.
The trainees will learn how the specific sufferings emerge in different personality styles and disorders, what are the relational roots and meanings, the therapeutic guidelines, the intersection with the contemporary social context. The aim is to offer a relational orientation in the complexity of real clinical situations and challenges.

3. RESIDENTIAL: APPLICATION OF THEORY AND PRACTICE
The residential workshop is an international group, both theoretical and experiential. It is led by the three directors together. The lectures in the morning focus on the growing edges of contemporary Gestalt therapy and psychopathology, with the possibility of interventions by other international trainers. In the afternoon we form subgroups, each with a different focus: supervision, personal works, or competences and case conceptualisation. The personal resonances related to psychopathology are explored in order to increase the awareness and the ground of the participants. Supervision and discussion of clinical cases are a central part of the methodology, in order to link the theoretical understanding with both personal experiences and professional competences.
The schedule offers the possibility to slow down and pause, to enjoy personal meetings with colleagues from all over the world, to explore the silence and the nature, to appreciate the beauty of the Italian landscapes and cuisine.
